The Claiborne Christian School Crusaders answered the challenge of being behind in the late innings with a big four- run rally in the top of the seventh to clinch the state class C championship.

The 5-2 victory came at Bringhurst Field in Alexandria against Elizabeth.

"It was just like watching a movie," said Claiborne coach Steven Miller. "It was fun to watch it unfold. Our guys really came through."

And the game had the Hollywood happy ending to match.

The game started off on a slow note, with Ryan Powell on the mound for Claiborne.

Elizabeth struck first, scoring two runs in the bottom of the third.

Claiborne had chances in the top of the fifth and top of the sixth, but it wasn't until the top of the seventh they were able to break the scoring drought.

Ryan Powell singled to start the inning off. Casey Wedrell was hit by a pitch and Adam Cernigliaro doubled, scoring both Powell and Wedrell ahead of him.

Taylor Moore singled, sooring Cernigliaro and Jake Bell reached on an error to score Moore.

Leading hitters also included Kip Robinson who was 3-for-5 and Bell, who was 1-for-3.
