BPW collects items for soldiers
The Business and Professional Women's meeting for May will be at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 13, at The Atrium in Monroe.
Following installation of 2008-2009 officers, attendees will compete in the BPW Trivia Game, which features facts about women's issues and the organization. Prizes will be awarded.
A $10 lunch buffet will be available. Deadline for reservations is noon May 12.
The BPW keeps a basket at each meeting to collect items for Louisiana women in the military. Needed items include snack foods (crackers, cookies, cereal bars, nutrigrain bars, etc); feminine hygiene products; lotions; non-perishable foods/meals; drink mixes (Crystal light, Kool-aid; GatorAide); phone cards; baby wipes; magazines; books; microwave popcorn; gum; canned meat or jerky (no pork); hard candy; sheets; pillowcases; pillows; cotton socks; flipflops to wear to the shower; honey; Blistex; toothbrushes; floss; toothpaste; shampoo; deodorant; playing cards; and shower gel.
Early registration deadline for the state conference, set for June 5-8 in Covington, is due by May 15. Go online to www.bpwlouisiana.org.
