Rebels draw No. 1 seed

The West Monroe Rebels have drawn the No. 1 seed in the class 5A state tournament.
West Monroe will face No. 32 seed Grace King in the first round.

"It's a credit to how our kids played this season," said West Monroe coach Mark Sims.

"They played well and they worked hard. Its a reflection on what they did."

The game will be played at 4 p.m., today (Thursday) at West Monroe.

West Monroe finished the season with a 30-3 overall record.

Grace King has an overall record of 14-12 and were the third place team in District 9-5A.

Meanwhile, the Ouachita Parish Lions have drawn the No. 23 seed slot and will have to travel to No. 10 seed Jesuit, last year's 5A state champions. The game will be at 4 p.m., today (Thursday) in New Orleans.

Ouachita finished in second place behind West Monroe in District 2-5A with an 8-7 district record.
