Sunday, April 20 — 10:30 a.m.- The church will honor its Scottish heritage with the "Kirkin' O' The Tartans." The service will begin with a procession of tartans led by bagpiper Ted Brody Jr., and followed by Rev. Bruce Rux. Youth will carry the Scottish Confession of Faith and the tartans. Church members, their families and friends who have died since the last Kirkin' will be named and remembered during the playing of the Scottish ballad "Flowers of the Forest." The public is invited.

First United Methodist Church, 1411 Glenwood Drive, West Monroe.

Sunday, April 20 — 9 a.m.-traditional worship in the sanctuary. 10 a.m.-Sunday school for all ages. 10:50 a.m.-contemporary worship in the Christian Life Center. Rev. Marla Munn will preach at both morning services. Bud Jenkins, representing The Gideons International, will be a guest speaker. noon-Newcomer's class for those who have recently joined the church or for those who are interested in joining. The class will continue each Sunday in April. Lunch will be served and childcare will be provided. 3-6 p.m.-Fourth annual "Meet the Methodists" at the Louisiana Purchase Gardens & Zoo. Group rate admission will be $3 per person. Bring a covered dish to share; water, lemonade and paper goods. 4:30 p.m.-Confirmation mentor meeting. 4:45 p.m.-Children's choir. 5 p.m.-Pathfinders, junior and senior high youth meet. 5:30 p.m.-C.S.I. and Kajukenbo men's self defense class. 5;45 p.m.-teamKID Bible study.

Wednesday, April 23 — 6:30 a.m.-Men's prayer breakfast meets at Shoney's. 10 a.m.-Adult Bible study. 6 p.m.-Junior, senior high youth meet. 6:30 p.m.-Adult Integrity Choir and the contemporary worship band meet.

Thursday, April 24 — 50+ Group meets in the fellowship hall.

Saturday, April 19 — 2-5 p.m. Neighborhood picnic. The public is invited to enjoy food, games, fellowship and activities for children.
