Mr. Benjamin F. Brown, 54, of Monroe, passed away Friday, April 11, 2008.
His funeral was at 2 p.m. Monday, April 14, at Jesus the Good Shepherd Catholic Church with Rev. Job Edathinatt and Rev. Mark Watson officiating. Interment was in St. Paschal Catholic Cemetery in West Monroe under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe. Visitation was immediately before the service.
Survivors include his sisters, Ruth Purdy, Beulah Murry, Florence Guimbellot and Eloise Brown; and brothers, John Brown, Charlie Brown, Floyd Brown and Curtis Brown.

Jack Jearl Dyke
Mr. Jack Jearl Dyke, 78, of Bastrop,and formerly of West Monroe, passed away Saturday, April 12, 2008, at Cherry Ridge Nursing Home in Bastrop.
His funeral was at 2 p.m. Monday, April 14, at Mulhearn Funeral Home of West Monroe with Rev. Britt Dupree officiating. Interment was in Hasley Cemetery in West Monroe. Visitation was Sunday evening.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James A. and Bertha Dyke; sister, Claudean Hendrix; brothers, James Edward Dyke and Jimmy Dyke.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Edith Haney Dyke of Bastrop; two daughters, Sharon Shelton and husband, Joe, of Houston, Miss. and Brenda Moore and husband, Lynn of Monroe; six grandchildren, Darby Shelton of Oxford, Miss., Stormy Shelton Hall of New Albany, Miss., Summer Shelton of Knoxville, Tenn., Sky Shelton of Nashville, Tenn., Laura Moore and Spencer Moore, both of Monroe; five great-grandchildren, Darby Grey Shelton, Indigo Shelton, Tennessee Hall, Cherokee Hall and Albany Hall; sister, Ella Jean Dyke; and two brothers, Charlie Dyke and A.P. Dyke.
Pallbearers were Joe Shelton, Darby Shelton, Lynn Moore, Spencer Moore, Phillip McCready and Darrell White.

Ivelle Elliott
Mrs. Ivelle Elliott, 85, of West Monroe, was called home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 8, 2008.
Her funeral was at 10 a.m. Friday, April 11, at Kilpatrick Funeral Home of West Monroe, with Rev. Don Johnson officiating. Interment was at Hasley Cemetery in West Monroe. Visitation was Thursday evening.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Travis Elliott, and two sisters, Lila Dean and Clarice Durham.
Survivors include her son, David Elliott; daughter and son-in-law, Patrice and Allen Beebe; grandson, Jeb Houston; step-grandchildren, Quinon Beebe, Laura Beebe and Caleb Beebe; brother and sister-in-law, Carl and Mary Odom; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Caleb Beebe, Max Durham, Randy Odom, Ben Hudson, Lew Hudson and Brandon Hays.

Eugene Holdsworth
Mr. Eugene Holdsworth, 86, of Florence, Ky., and a former resident of Monroe for more than 50 years, passed away Monday, April 7, 2008, in Florence.

Mr. John Tillman King, 77, of Monroe, passed away Friday, April 11, 2008, at the Louisiana Extended Care Hospital in West Monroe.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Gertrud K. King, and by numerous brothers and sisters.
Survivors include his children, Johnny King and wife, Sharon, Patricia King Putnam and husband, John, and Master Sgt. Michael Bruce King (Afghanistan); grandchildren, Daniel Putnam and wife, Amber, Tyler Putnam and Sara, Darla and Kayla King.

Funeral services for Mrs. Rachel Faye LaGrone, 82, were at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 13, 2008, at the Pentecostals of the Twin Cities with pastor emeritus Fred Foster, associate pastor Jeremy Foster and grandson Randy LaGrone officiating. Interment was in Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Calhoun under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of West Monroe. Visitation was Saturday evening.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Taylor R. and Bessie Young Morris, and four brothers.
Survivors include her beloved husband of more than 64 years, Jack B. LaGrone Sr.; daughter, Donna Bulloch and husband, Bruce; two sons, Jack LaGrone and wife, Laura, and Lamar LaGrone; brother, Leslie Morris; sister, Dorothy Scarborough and husband, Lawrence; nine grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

J.C. McDougald, 83, of Monroe, passed away peacefully in Monroe on Monday, April 7, 2008.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Jewell McDougald.
Survivors include his loving wife of 57 years, Dorothy McDougald; daughter, Betsy Farmer; sons, Bruce McDougald and Blake McDougald; sister, Betty Hale; and grandchildren, Michelle Farmer, David McDougald and Bo McDougald.
