OCS remains unbeaten in district

Cade Bowen struck out nine batters to help lift the Ouachita Christian School Eagles to a 12-8 District 2-1A victory Thursday night against Cedar Creek.

The Cougars scored the first two runs of the game in the top of the first, and OCS answered in the bottom of the first by scoring four.

Matt Kennedy and John Clay Reeves both hit doubles and Hunter Breed added a double to help out.

The Eagles added three more in the bottom of the second. Kennedy hit another double, Reeves was hit by a pitch, and Matt Parker singled. Parker was playing for third baseman Cody Sisson, who was injured on an earlier play and had to be taken out.

The Eagles added two more runs in the bottom of the sfourth inning. Jacob Slade had a double and later scored on Breed's single.

Taylor Dawson reached base on a fielder's choice which scored Bowen, who had drawn a walk earlier.

The Eagles got one more in the bottom of the fifth and added three more in the bottom of the sixth.

Cedar Creek scored two runs in the top of the second, fourth and seventh innings, but Bowen was able to close the door when Mitch Anthony hit into a double play to end the game.

OCS improved to 4-0 in district play and 14-2 overall. The Eagles next game will be at home Monday against Bernice at 5 p.m., then they will host Arcadia at 4 p.m., Thursday.
