Johnson helping Sooners out
by Joe Durham, Jr. - posted E-mail Story E-mail Story | Print Story Print Story
West Ouachita graduate Jamie Johnson is currently helping lead Oklahoma to a great start this season. Johnson played two years at Texarkana Junior College before making the move to the Sooners.

Oklahoma opened the season by defeating then No. 1 ranked UCLA and went on to produce an 11-game winning streak during the early season.

Johnson is currently in the 10th position in conference games for the Big 12 conference with a batting average of .409.

For all games played, Johnson is ranked sixth in the conference in stolen bases with 10 thefts.

Johnson started the season as the leadoff batter, but now routinely bats in the fifth or sixth position in the lineup.

Only three Oklahoma players have played in all 29 games so far this season, and Johnson is one of them. He has played all the outfield positions.
