Cultura Book Club welcomes musician

Ann Fenn, musician for the contemporary services at First Baptist Church of West Monroe, entertained Cultura Book Club members at their March meeting with a selection of popular songs from the past.

In deference to the St. Patrick's Day decorations, she first played the keyboard and sang "Danny Boy." She followed with such favorites as "Begin the Beguine" and "What Are You Doing the Rest of Your Life?" At the conclusion of the program Fenn promised, at the insistence of the group, to return another time and continue her "Melody of Music."

In the business session, Kitty Liner, president, appointed a nominating committee for 2008-2009 officers. Betty Oxford, Betty Stimac and Jean Halsell will report at the next meeting. The club unanimously passed a motion by Annette Bedgood to make a donation to the West Ouachita Senior Center to help with food for the hungry in the area.

Hostesses for the meeting, which was held in the Social Room at First Baptist Church of West Monroe, were Edwina Welch, Geraldine Kirby and Jean Halsell.

Twenty-five members attended. The next meeting will be held on Monday, April 7.
