Central shuts out Ouachita
by Joe Durham, Jr. - posted E-mail Story E-mail Story | Print Story Print Story
The Natchitoches Central Lady Chiefs battled both the wind and the Ouachita Lady Lions to come away with a 3-0 District 2-5A victory Tuesday at Ouachita.

With the wind blowing in gusts of 30 miles an hour or better, the Lady Chiefs used an inside-the-park home run by Joyanne Lindsey to take the victory.

The Lady Chiefs added insurance runs in the fourth and sixth innings.

The Lady Lions never could get on track.

The Lady Lions only had one hit, and two other baserunners, with no one getting beyond second base.

The Lady Lions(5-13-3, 0-3) will travel to Ruston next week to take on the Lady Bearkats.

The Lady Lions still have return contests against Central. Other games on the schedule include West Monroe and non-district clashes against Neville.
In other action, it was Cedar Creek defeating St. Frederick 10-0 in a District 2-1A contest.

The Neville District 2-4A contest against West Ouachita was postponed until Wednesday due to the inclement weather conditions.

In other softball action throughout the area, Claiborne Christian will be traveling to Dubach on Thursday for a 4 p.m. first-pitch before a week off due to spring break.

Ouachita Christian, meanwhile, will have to play three road games in three days, traveling to Bernice on Thursday, Forest on Friday and Captain Shreve on Saturday before returning home to take on Arcadia and St. Fredrick in a pair of pivotal district match-ups.

The Lady Chiefs of West Ouachita are off until March 27 when they travel to Winnsboro take on Franklin Parish.
