The Louisiana State Paralegal Association will sponsor a one-day legal seminar from 8 a.m.-3 p.m. Friday, March 7, at The Hemingbough, 10101 Highway 965 in St. Francisville.

The seminar entitled "Cutting Through The Red Tape in 2008," will cover areas of the law including corporate law, UCC filings, Secretary of State filing procedures, and ethics. Attendees can earn up to five Continuing Legal Education hours from the National Association of Legal Assistants.

Louisiana Secretary of State Jay Dardenne will serve as the keynote speaker for the Rochelle Scholarship Luncheon, which begins at 11:45 a.m.

The scholarship is presented annually to an outstanding student attending an accredited paralegal studies program in the state.

Cost for the event, including lunch, is $115 for LSPA members, $125 for non-members and $50 for students. The deadline for registration is Friday, Feb. 29.
