James Dale Arnold
Mr. James Dale Arnold, 73, of Monroe, went to be with his lord and savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2008, after a short illness.
His funeral was at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 22, at The Apostolic Church Of The Lord Jesus Christ with Revs. David Mixon, Ron Townley and Paul Massey officiating. Interment was in the Delhi Masonic Cemetery in Delhi under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of West Monroe. Visitation was Thursday evening at the funeral home and immediately before the service Friday at the church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn Rurdell Arnold; parents, Martin and Annie Bell Arnold; brothers, W.B. Arnold, Leon Arnold and Denon Arnold; and sisters, Myrtle Arnold, Allie Laura Arnold, Stella Parker, Irma Pickering and Margie Pepper.
Survivors include his sons, David Deron and wife, Reba, of Monroe, Billy Deron and wife, Michelle, of Farmerville, Danny Arnold and wife, Cheryl, of West Monroe and Ronnie Arnold of Monroe; daughter, Barbara McDonald and husband, Jesse, of Urania; brothers, Dewitt Arnold and wife, Shirley, of Delhi, Ray Arnold and wife, Margie, of Monroe; sister; JoAnn Cartlidge and husband, Grady, of Point, Sure Parker of Winnsboro, Verlene Almond of Tallulah; brother-in-law, C.L. Rundell and wife, Claire, of Monroe; sister-in-law, Beth Ann Terry and husband, Lanny, of Friendswood, Texas; 15 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Pallbearers were Luther Chadwick, Traber Brister, Ryan Mixon, Junior Wilson, Bruce Frith and Traver Self.

Cecile Clark Chambless
Mrs. Cecile Clark Chambless, 80, of West Monroe, passed away Monday, Feb. 18, 2008, in West Monroe.
Her funeral was at 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb, 21, at Kilpatrick Funeral Home of West Monroe with Rev. Chuck Johnston officiating. Interment was in Clark Springs Cemetery in West Monroe. Visitation was Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Morris Chambless; parents, Thad Clark and Lynn Harper; brother, Jimmy Clark; and sister, Dora Hayes.
Survivors include two children, Sharon Chambless Roeger and husband, David, James M. Chambless and wife, Carolyn; brother, Billy Clark and wife, Ola; three grandsons, James M. Chambless Jr., and wife, Megan, Joshua Chambless and fiancée, Cindy, and Christopher Roeger; great-grandchild, James M. Chambless III; step-grandchild, Rachael Causey; two step-great-grandchildren, Hunter Trichell and Kori Causey; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.
Pallbearers were Terry Hayden, Donald Nolan, Mike Lowery, Montez Pate, Henry Kirkham and Benjy Collins.

Annette H. Dungan
Mrs. Annette H. Dungan, 60, of Monroe, passed away Monday, Feb. 25, at St. Francis North Hospital in Monroe.
Her funeral was at 1 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 28, at Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe, with Mack Owen officiating. Interment followed in Mulhearn Memorial Park Mausoleum. Visitation was Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
Survivors include her husband, John Dungan; daughter, Laura Richie and husband, Mark; grandchildren, Mark Anthony, Eric, Laura Kay and Alex Richie; and sisters, Janis Miller and Fredia Gail Knight.
Pallbearers were Bill Durham, Roger Elkin, Eddie Harper, Royce Ogle, Bill Hester and Herb Jones.

Kelly Dennis Harris
Kelly Dennis Harris, 52, passed away Monday, Feb. 25, 2008, in Bastrop.
His funeral was at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 28, at Kilpatrick Funeral Home of West Monroe with Rev. Tom Lowe officiating. Interment was in Hasley Cemetery in West Monroe. Visitation was Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
Survivors include his wife, Jean; daughter, Denise Christensen; three stepdaughters and three stepsons; sisters and brothers, Johnnie Webb and husband, Jack Webb, Carolyn Johnson, Nell Wade, Haskell Harris and wife, Norma Jean, Vickie Carter, Jackie Hill, Rickey Harris and wife, Janie, and Mitchell Harris and wife, Debra; and numerous nieces, nephews and grandchildren.

Carl David Johnson
Mr. Carl David Johnson, 77, of Sterlington, passed away Sunday, Feb. 17, 2008, at St. Francis Specialty Hospital following a lengthy illness.
His funeral was at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 20, at First Baptist Church of Sterlington with Rev. J.E. Brown officiating. Interment was in Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery in Monroe under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe. Visitation was Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Barbara B. Johnson; son, Steven K. Johnson and wife, Margaret, of Monroe; grandsons, William Ecklund and wife, Brandi, of Monroe, and Ronald Ecklund of Key West, Fla.; brothers, Arthur B. Johnson and wife, Mary, and Edward G. Johnson and wife, Tommy Sue, all of Monroe; sister, Helen Knebel of Victoria, Texas; two great-grandchildren, Jackson and Sophie Ecklund; numerous nieces and nephews; and his beloved dog, Snoopy.
Pallbearers were Bayou Roofing employees, Isaac Armstrong, William Ecklund, Perry Harbor, Larry Goldsberry, Willie Jackson and Leon Wilson. Honorary pallbearers were the Adult One Men's Class of First Baptist Church, Sterlington, R.E. Kelly, and Sam Brinson.

Julius M. "Sonny" Johnson Jr.
Mr. Julius M. "Sonny" Johnson, Jr., 87, of Monroe, died Sunday, Feb. 17, 2008, at St. Francis Medical Center following a brief illness.
His funeral was at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 20, at Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe, with Dr. Allison Moody officiating. Interment was in Riverview Cemetery. Visitation was Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Barbara Bain Johnson; son, James W. "Jimmy" Johnson Sr.; and grandson, James W. "Jay" Johnson Jr., all of Monroe; granddaughter, Jennifer Johnson Keith and husband, Wes, of New Orleans; and nieces, Carolyn Courson Elliott and Connie Courson Richardson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Julius M. Johnson Sr. and Evie Shook Johnson; sister, Connie Courson; and a niece, Doll Courson Riley. He joins his "Potluck" Poker Group and hunting buddies: Andy Anders, Don Giffen, Bob Carter, Luke Mouk, Harry Frazer, Donnie Walker, Levins Thompson, Tom Peyton and Jim Rivers.
Pallbearers were Ronnie Shelby, Bob Rowan, Dr. Mike Nolan, Rob Carter, Jack Cole and Bobby Hawkins. Honorary pallbearers were members of Potluck Hunting Club.

John L. Justice
The funeral for Mr. John L. Justice, 75, of Monroe, was at 3 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 21, at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church with Revs. Job Edathinatt, Joseph Puthuppally and Sebastian Kallarackal officiating.
Interment followed in Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe. Visitation with a vigil wake service was Wednesday evening.
He was preceded in death by all but one sister, Alpha Lee Justice Roy; and his oldest son, John L. Justice Jr.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy (Dott) Lew Miller Justice; children and spouses, Margie Adams and husband, Dennis Adams, of Rogers, Ark., Mary Francis (Sissie) Jones and husband, Dr. Gary Jones, of Monroe, Glen Justice and wife, Janell Justice, of Rogers, Ark., Barbara Jane (BJ) Tassin and husband, Scott Tassin, of Bella Vista, Ark., Janet Justice of West Monroe, Kenny Justice of Monroe, Charlotte Jobe and husband, Dr. Darrell Jobe, of Shreveport, Katie Massingill and Rob Massingill of Bella Vista, Ark., Billy Justice and wife, Kelly Justice, of Monroe, and Lisa Murphy and husband, Paul Murphy, of West Monroe; 40 grandchildren and spouses; 17 great-grandchildren (two more due in August), and one sister, Alpha Lee Justice Roy.
Grandsons served as pallbearers.

Dr. Najeeb Klam
Memorial services for Dr. Najeeb Klam (Naj), 92, were held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 21, 2008, at Grace Episcopal Church in Monroe. Visitation followed in Kilbourne Hall. Arrangements were by Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe.
Survivors include his wife of 20 years, the former Marillyn Marshall Taylor; sons, Capt. Warren Klam of San Diego, Calif., Robert Taylor and wife, Louise, of Sheffield, Ala., Rick Taylor and wife, Cindy, of Baton Rouge; daughter, Elizabeth Garrison of Sheffield, Ala.; daughter-in-law, Gayle Klam; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two sisters; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Nabeeha and Elian Klam; his first wife, Louise Selwyn Klam; one son, Dr. Roger Klam; grandson, Ret Taylor; and great-grandson, Ryan Murphy.
Honorary pallbearers were Stanley Mintz, M.D.; Sol Courtman, M.D.; Ran Phillips, M.D.; Benjamin Marshall III; Lovell Hayden; and his four grandsons.
Memorials can be sent to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, Tenn., or to the Grace Episcopal Church.

Chap Frank Lockhart
Mr. Chap Frank Lockhart, 76, of Downsville, passed away Monday, Feb. 25, 2008, in Downsville.
His funeral was at 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 28, at Kilpatrick Funeral Home of West Monroe with Rev. Jim Ragsdale officiating. Entombment followed at Monroe Memorial Park Mausoleum. Visitation was Wednesday evening.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James P. Lockhart and Mary Jane Lockhart.
Survivors include his wife, Kathryn Sue Lockhart; son, Michael Lockhart and wife, Clementine; daughter, Melanie Loe; grandsons, Damon Martin and wife, Lisa, Blayne Spilker and Grayson Powell; granddaughter, Lyndsey Pool and husband, Danny; brothers, Ira Lockhart and wife, Lola, Bobby Lockhart and wife, Billie, George Thomas and wife, Jo, and Jack Dowell and wife, Louise; sisters; Lottie Dillow, Jean Neal and husband, Thomas, Dixie Lockhart and Nellie Lockhart; sister-in-law, Gennette Smith; numerous nieces and nephews; and four great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Damon Martin, Danny Pool, Timmy Thomas, Byron Thomas, George Thomas and Peyton Dowell.
Honorary pallbearers were Geoffrey Russell and Browning Dowell.

Donald Wilson McGee
Donald Wilson McGee, longtime resident of Houston and a West Monroe native, died peacefully in Dallas, Texas, on Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2008.
Graveside services were at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 23, at Klein Memorial Park. His nephew-in-law, Rev. Craig Morgan, officiated.He was preceded in death by his parents, eight brothers and sisters, his loving wife of 59 years, June, and daughter Barbara Cox.
Survivors include daughters, Cathy Allen and Patti Simpson; their husbands Tom Allen and Steve Simpson; granddaughters, Stacy and Trisha Allen, Shanna and Carly Cox; sister Gladys Brownlee and many close nieces and nephews.

Lola Dee Shumaker Reith
Mrs. Lola Dee Shumaker Reith, 88, of Bastrop, passed away Sunday, Feb. 17, 2008, at Summerlin Lane Nursing Home in Bastrop.
Her funeral was at 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 21, at Mulhearn Memorial Park Mausoleum with Rev. Ron Thomas officiating. Interment was in Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Frank Reith; and daughter, Betty Swink.
Survivors include her daughters, Julie Smith and husband, John R. Smith III of Monroe, and Ruth Marie Brown and husband, Ronald Brown, of Slidell; nine grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.

Charles Witherington
Mr. Charles C. Witherington, 82, of West Monroe, passed away Saturday, Feb. 16, in Monroe following a lengthy illness.
His funeral was at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 20, at Good Hope Baptist Church with Rev. David Chapman officiating. Interment was in Mt. Zion Cemetery in Calhoun under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of West Monroe. Visitation was Tuesday evening at the church.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Ann Witherington; daughter, JoAnn Roy; and a grandson, Jonathan McClain.
Survivors include his daughters, Judy Green and husband, Billie, Jackie Carter, Debbie McClain and husband, Gary, Sherry Williams and husband, Robert, and Lisa Powell and husband, Jay; son, Charles "Bo" Witherington Jr.; brothers, James and Dave Witherington; sisters, Gladys Miles and Annette Robertson; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Gary McClain, Billie Green, Robert Williams, Charlie Witherington, Elvin Crawford and Chris Roy.
