Lady Warriors ready for softball
by Joe Durham, Jr. - posted E-mail Story E-mail Story | Print Story Print Story
The St. Frederick Lady Warriors softball team is looking for more of the same from its team as it had last season.

In fact, they would really like to improve on last season's finish. They did make it to the 1A playoffs, but were unable to get past the first round. The Lady Warriors won the first game by a 6-4 margin.

"We're going to be okay this season," said St. Frederick coach Kip Davis. "We've got seven returning starters to the team."

Mary Theils returns to the circle this season, Davis said.

Other leading players include Electra Guice in right field.

"She's one of our leading hitters," Davis said.

Sunday was the first day the team actually got outside to practice and Monday was the first game of the season against Choudrant.

Theils was the starter and winning pitcher for the contest.

"This was our first game and we had a few jitters," Davis said. "But all-in-all it was not a bad outing.

District 2-1A is loaded with talent this year, Davis said. "Ouachita Christian School is one of the top teams in the district, and Cedar Creek is always a district favorite."
