West Monroe tops Airline
Summer Pate's game-winning RBI single in the bottom of the seventh inning gave the West Monroe softball team a 4-3 win over rival Airline Tuesday night at West Monroe.
Trailing 3-0 after the first three innings, the Lady Rebels (5-4) would push across two runs on a pair of hits in the second inning.
After Pate led off with a single, Sally Blackwell walked .
Caitlin Herbet's sacrifice bunt would put runners at second and third with one out and after Whitney Moore drew a walk to load the base, rightfielder Elisabeth Pepper would drive in a pair of runs with a hard-hit double.
A sacrifice fly by Blackwell an inning later would tie the game at three before West Monroe would win the game in the seventh when after a single by Tiffani Robinson to lead off the inning, she advanced to second on a passed ball and third on a wild pitch before Pate's game-winning single.
Pate finished the game as the leading hitter for the Lady Rebels, going 2-4 with an RBI and run scored.
Whitney Moore (3-1-1) picked up the complete-game win in the circle for the Lady Rebels, allowing only two earned runs. on nine hits, striking out seven and walking one. |
