Lions make playoffs
by Joe Durham, Jr. - posted E-mail Story E-mail Story | Print Story Print Story
The Ouachita Parish Lions will most probably make the 5A playoffs, but the seeding meeting won't be until Wednesday, so coach Casey Jones will have to wait until then to find out who he plays.

Jones would like to return to the Cajundome. His team made the trip down there three years ago and reached the 4A finals.

Ouachita (20-13, 5-1)finished tied for the District 2-5A lead with Ruston, who also finished with a 5-1 record.

West Monroe has an outside shot at making the playoffs with a 12-10 overall record. They finished the district season with a 2-4 record.

The Neville Tigers are also on the bubble. They finished with an overall 12-14 record and were 5-3 in the District 2-4A race, two games behind Franklin Parish, the district winner.

Ouachita Christian School is also on the bubble in 1A. The Eagles had a 19-15 record overall and a 4-6 District 2-1A mark..

In Class C, Claiborne Christian was 0-2 in the District 2-C, but because there are only two teams in the district, Claiborne will get to go to the playoffs.

The first round of the boys state playoffs will begin on Friday with the state tournament being held in Lafayette at the Cajundome beginning March 5.
