OCS, West Monroe advance Both the Ouachita Christian School Lady Eagles and the West Monroe Lady Rebels advanced to the second round of the state playoffs with Thursday night wins.
No. 3 in class 1A OCS had little trouble with No. 32 seed Merryville, taking home a 60-44 victory. West Monroe defeated Assumption 77-55, Ouachita downed South Lafourche 60-54, St. Frederick tripped up Ringgold 69-55 and Neville beat Salmen 75-42.
Julienne Joyner scored 16 points to help lead OCS and Brooke Humphries added 14.
OCS led 40-23 at the half and 50-39 at the end of the third quarter.
"We had a great first half," said OCS coach Jeremy Shackelford. "We did what we had to do to move on."
No one knows who they will face in the next round, which will probably be played Monday or Tuesday. |
