Ouachita's Edwards sets sights on LSU Following in the footsteps of his older brother Eric, Tyler Edwards made it official Wednesday morning as he signed his National Letter-of-Intent to play football for the LSU Tigers.
The 6-3, 222-pound Edwards is a three-star prospect according to the latest Rivals.com rankings and is listed as the 26th-best tight end in the country according to Rivals.com. Edwards chose the Tigers over Nebraska, Alabama and Florida.
"To be honest I am happy that this is all over now," Edwards said. "It has been an enjoyable time (recruiting process) and to sign this letter saying I'm going to LSU is the greatest feeling in my life. I have been waiting for this day for a very long time. I always wanted to play for LSU and now I am going to have my chance.
"It does feel good to get it over with and now I can shift my focus to working out and getting ready for that next level."
Expected to compete for immediate playing time once he arrives on campus, Edwards said he believes he has a chance to see some time in the purple and gold his freshman season.
"I do hope that I can come in and compete for some playing time early on," Edwards said. "I hope so because that is my plan. I think if I can work hard enough I can get in there with (LSU tight end) Richard Dickson in the two tight-end formations and I think I can make an impact." |
