Mario Wiley, the talented wide receiver for the West Monroe Rebels, has decided to continue his football playing at Northwestern State University in Natchitoches.

"When I went for my visit I was very impressed," Wiley said. "I enjoyed the people and they have the highest graduation rate in pre-med (his major)."

This past season, Wiley had 30 catches for 540 yards and seven touchdowns to help lead the Rebels to a 10-1 record.

"We're just losing a great player," said West Monroe coach Don Shows. "He was a role model for us and he gave a litte bit more."

Northwestern State plays in the Southland Conference, the former conference of the University of Louisiana-Monroe.

The Demons have made the playoffs several times in the last few years but were 4-7 last season.

NSU will be returning 55 lettermen.

Wiley helped guide the Rebels to their 13th district title and the second round of the state playoffs.

"He will be missed," Sh ows said.

Wiley was the only one of the Rebels to sign on Wednesday, National Signing Day.
