Fundraiser planned for Jewish cemetery The Temple B'nai Concert Project, will present "A Tribute to Jewish American Composers of the 20th Century," at 7 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 26, in Temple B'nai Israel (located at the corner of Orell Place and Park Avenue).
This second annual program will raise funds for the preservation of Monroe's Jewish Cemetery. The cemetery is located on Manassas Street in Monroe.
Billy Ledbetter, Rod Allen Payne and Lisa McCalmon formed an ensemble especially for the event. The concert will include music from the likes of Leonard Bernstein, George Gershwin and Irving Berlin, as well as more contemporary artists such as Neil Diamond and Neil Sedaka.
A reception will follow the concert. Tickets are still available for $15 and can be reserved by calling the Temple's office at 387-0730. |
