Republican women welcome new president The Ouachita Parish Women's Republican Club kicked off the new year by honoring the outgoing club president, Jo Ann Womack.
Womack, who served as president for the past five years, received a standing ovation and was presented with an elephant shaped silver tray by incoming president, Lois Hoover.
Rep. Kay Kellogg Katz presided over the installation of new officers.
They are: Lois Hoover, president; Greta Jones-first vice president; Ruth Ulrich, second vice president; Nancy Carpenter, recording secretary; Sharon Mills, secretary; and Pat Brown, treasurer.
Speaker for the luncheon meeting was Spec Lewis, who is running for Monroe City Council, District 1 and special guest, Ben Katz, Monroe City Council member who was unopposed for re-election.
The next meeting will be at noon Monday, Feb. 4, at the West Monroe Convention Center.
A buffet line will begin at 11:30 a.m. for a cost of $10 per person.
Guest Ken Stickney, managing editor of the The News-Star, will speak on how to get items printed in their newspaper. |
