James "Bill" Boutwell
James "Bill" Boutwell, 80, of West Monroe, passed away Monday, Jan. 7, 2008, in West Monroe.
His funeral was at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 9, at Ouachita Baptist Church with Revs. Marshall Douglas and Eddie Schumaker officiating. Interment was in Monroe Memorial Park with Rev. Dennis Hensley officiating. Arrangements were by Kilpatrick Funeral Home of West Monroe. Visitation was immediately before the service.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Allie Boutwell; brothers, Pete Boutwell, Arthur Boutwell Jr., Beau Boutwell who died defending his country in World War II, Donald Ray Boutwell; and a sister, Mable Plunk.
Survivors include his wife, Joan Boutwell; two children, Roger Boutwell and wife, Martha, Sissie Garrett and husband, Ronnie; a sister, Mary Yates; grandchildren, Karen Manuel, Lori DeWald, Jamie LeJeune, Amy Hale, Glynn Garrett and Kelly Williamson; and great-grandchildren, Sidney Hall, Jodie, Trevor, Emma Manuel, Devin, Brianna Dewald, Hannah, Ashley and Will Hale, Cole, Drew, Emily Garrett, Katie, Garrett and Wyatt Williamson and Remy Sanders.
Pallbearers were Tim Manuel, John DeWald, Ryan LeJeune, Glynn Garrett, Kevin Hale and Donald Williamson.

Florence Odell Burroughs
Mrs. Florence Odell Burroughs, 87, of Monroe, passed away Sunday, Jan. 6, 2008, at St. Francis North Hospital.
Her funeral was at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 8, at Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe, with Don Glover officiating. Interment was in Rayville Masonic Cemetery in Rayville.
She was preceded in death by her son, Bill Burroughs. Visitation was Monday evening.
Survivors include her husband of 72 years, George James Burroughs; two daughters, Virginia Pike and husband, Harold, and Dorothy Jean Cobb and husband, Charles; daughter-in-law, Mariana Burroughs; sister, Eunice Jones; grandchildren, Jamie Culver and husband, Terry, Tina Rabilais and husband, Ernie, Darrel Pike and wife, Barbara, Toni Giffen, Phillip Pike, Richard Burroughs, Karen LeBlanc and Brian Pike and wife, Lena; 11 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Darrell, Phillip and Brian Pike, Terry and Jay Culver, Ernie Rabilais, Justin Branham and Richard Burroughs.

William Eldred Cordray
Mr. William Eldred Cordray, 85, of Monroe, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2008, at St. Francis Medical Center.
His funeral was at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 11, at First United Methodist Church of Monroe. Interment was at 2 p.m. Saturday at Greenoaks Memorial Park Cemetery in Baton Rouge under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe. Visitation was Thursday evening at the funeral home and immediately before the service at the church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Wesley and Josephine Cordray; and sisters, Lillie Lou Cordray and Alma Garrett.
Survivors include his dedicated and loving wife of 58 years, Faye Cordray; brothers, Roy Cordray and wife, Lucille, and Jack Cordray and wife, Joy; sons, Mike Cordray and wife, Cheri, and Don Cordray and wife, Gaylnn; daughters, Debra Jones, and Sharon Rowe and husband, Bill; grandchildren, Rebecca Childs and husband, Andrew, Amy Dodd and husband, Jimmy, Ben Stenger and wife, Lori, Abram Jones, Mary Hannah Jones, Hazel Rowe, Kayla Cordray and Wesley Cordray; great-grandchildren, Michelle and Morgan Bourgoyne, and Tylore Sit; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Douglas Riels, Sam Barr, Ben Stenger, Abram Jones, Wesley Cordray and Byron Atkins. Honorary pallbearers were his Sunday school class.

Rev. John C. Dudley
Rev. John C. Dudley, 79, passed this life to his eternal home on Thursday, Jan. 10, 2008, in Monroe, after a lengthy illness.
His funeral was at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 14, at West Monroe Church of God with Rev. John Clint Thornton, Rev. Floyd Duchesne, Philip Bedenbender and Bishop Isaacs officiating. Interment was in Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Calhoun under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of West Monroe. Visitation was Sunday evening.
Survivors include his wife his wife of 55 years, Louise Dudley; daughter, Cathy Bedenbender, husband, Philip, and his son Jacky Dudley and wife, Judy; grandchildren, Misti Chavis and husband Levi, Angel Younse and husband, Joshua, Kristen Davis and husband Rusty, Philip "JP" Bedenbender Jr., Lindsay Dudley and step-granddaughter, Lindsie Brockner; great-grandchildren Stephen, Catelyn, Cassidy, Annabelle, Abigail and Kahlyn; many nieces and nephews; and a host of friends and church family.
Pallbearers were Levi Chavis, Joshua Younse, Philip "JP" Bedenbender Jr., Alan Shields, Russell Miles, Frank Woolsey, Chad Shields, Andrew Shields and Brandon Marionneaux. Honorary pallbearers were Reggie Russell, Jackie Stover and Church of God ministers of the state.

Billy C. Flowers
Mr. Billy C. Flowers, 80, of Eros, passed away Saturday, Jan. 5, 2008, at St. Francis North Medical Center.
His funeral was at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 8, at Mulhearn Funeral Home of West Monroe with Rev. Lindle Stewart. Graveside services were at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Vicksburg, Miss. Visitation was Monday evening.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clark and Eddie Flowers; brothers, W.C. Flowers and Jeff Flowers; sisters, Margie Goss and Charlotte Trosclair; and great-grandson, Steven Flowers.
Survivors include his daughter, Janice Maroney and husband, Gary; sons, Bill Flowers and wife, Donna; Mike Flowers and wife, Brenda; and T. C. Mrs. Lavenia Gordey, 85, of West Monroe, passed away Monday, Jan. 7, 2008, in West Monroe.

Ila Clark Greer
Mrs. Ila Clark Greer, 86, of Monroe, died Monday, Jan. 7, 2008, at Azalea Estates in Monroe.
Her funeral was at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 9, at Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe, with Rev. Warren Eckhardt officiating. Interment was in Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation was immediately before the funeral.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lonnie Greer
Survivors include her special niece and caregiver, Bonnie Edwards; numerous other nieces and nephews; and special friends, Una Hart, Martha Hudson and Dr. Kerry Anders.

Mrs. Patsy Cooper Hart, 84, of Monroe, passed away Saturday, Jan. 5, at St. Joseph Nursing Home.

Survivors include her sons, Kenneth Hart and fiancée, Theresa Lambert of Monroe, and Russell Hart Jr. and wife, Karen, of St. Francisville; daughters, Susan Hart Laird and husband, John, of Murfreesboro, Tenn., and Patricia Stewart and husband, Jerry, of Mer Rouge; sisters, Carolyn Duncan and husband, Lester, of Monroe, and Laverne Watts of Hot Springs, Ark.; brother, Clayton Cooper Sr. and wife, Evelyn, of Dunn; grandchildren, Charles Russell Hart, Erin Laird Rector and husband, Rob, Casie Laird, Betsy Bolden and husband, Jay, Kelly Jordan and husband, Chad, Ben Hart, Michael Hart, and Jessica Langley; 11 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Joe C. Rhodes, 73, of Monroe, passed away Friday, Jan. 4, 2008, at St. Francis Medical Center in Monroe.

Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Sylvia Hill Rhodes; children, Jeannie Soister and Billy Joe Rhodes; grandchildren, Amy Soister and Ashley Grove and husband, Brett; brother, Otis Rhodes and wife, Voncille; sister, Mary Helen Hatten; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Charles Harold Rooney
Mr. Charles Harold Rooney, 83, of Monroe, passed away Sunday, Jan. 13, 2008.
His funeral was at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 16, at Jesus the Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Monroe with Rev. Mark Watson and Msgr. Edmund Moore officiating. Interment was in Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation was Tuesday evening with a vigil wake service at 6 p.m.
Survivors include his wife, Marianne Rooney; sons, Charles Robert Rooney and wife, Maureen, of San Francisco, Calif., Michael Edward Rooney and wife, Teresa, of Glendale, Ariz.; daughters, Janet Marie Colvin and husband, Keith, of Spring, Texas, Marilyn Ann Finch and husband, Jimmy, of Monroe; grandchildren, Anthony Malta, Julie Hansen and husband, Adam, Jeremy Malta, Krista Jones and husband, Brad, Kathleen Rooney, Angela Malta, Austin Finch, Christopher Colvin and Samuel Rooney; and seven great-grandchildren.

Bertha Trichell
Mrs. Bertha Trichell, 87 of West Monroe, passed away Monday, Jan. 7, 2008, at her home.
Graveside services were at 4 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 12, at Vernon Baptist Church Cemetery in West Monroe, with Pastor George Fluitt officiating. Kilpatrick Funeral Home of West Monroe handled arrangements. A celebration of life visitation and lunch was held in her honor.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd Trichell.
Survivors include her children, Carl and Pat, Lloyd and Terry, Shrea, Danny and Terry; grandchildren, Carl , Debbie, Dwain James, Dustin, Justin, Chris and Susie, Crystal, Paul and Dylan; great-grandchildren, Aaron, Trinity and Ryan; plus many nephews, nieces, cousins, family and friends.

Lillian Mai Vatter, 100, passed away Monday, Dec. 31, 2007.
Graveside services were at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Monroe.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur L. Vatter.
Survivors include one daughter, Joyce C. Wyatt and husband, J.P. Wyatt; three grandchildren, Terri Ann Grayson and husband, Greg, Johnny Wyatt and wife, Beckey, Mike Wyatt; one great-grandson, Brandon Bruffett.

Racheal Varner Ward
Mrs. Racheal Varner Ward, 76, of Monroe, passed away Thursday, Jan. 10, 2008, at St. Francis Medical Center.
Graveside services were at 3 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 13, at Liberty Baptist Cemetery near Spearsville. Rev. Connie Ward officiated and arrangements were by Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe. Visitation was immediately before the service at the funeral home.
Survivors include her children, Marvin Self, Larry Ward of West Monroe, Ronnie Ward and wife, Sharon, of Monroe, Debbie Richardson and husband, William, of El Dorado, Ark., Gary Ward of Monroe, and Shelia Blanche and husband, Lane, of Monroe; ten grandchildren; one great-grandchild; brother, Dale Varner; two sisters, Mary Montgomery and Gertrude Cherry; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
