Funeral services for Dylan Dale Bass, 18, of Monroe, were at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2008, at Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe, with Rev. Ricky Baker officiating. Interment was in New Light Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation was Tuesday evening.
Survivors include his mother, Rebecca Dowdy; father, Mark Bass; sisters, Rachel Bass, Amanda Ward and Matthew, Brittney Battaglia and Joey, and Christy Thomisee; grandparents, Charles and Doris Dowdy, Steve and Doris Bass and Careen Johnston; nieces and nephews, Alanta Lenard, Sierra and Bailey Bass, Judge Battaglia, and Travis and Cheyenne Thomisee.

Norma Jean Gaspard Bruce
Norma Jean Gaspard Bruce, 76, of West Monroe, died Sunday, Dec. 30, 2007, at her home in West Monroe.
Her funeral was at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2008, at Kilpatrick Funeral Home of West Monroe with Rev. Larry Stafford officiating. Interment followed in Hasley Cemetery in West Monroe. Visitation was Tuesday evening.
Survivors include her five sons, Harry G. Prophit IV and wife, Alice, Charlie Prophit and wife, Virginia, David Prophit and wife, Nora, all of West Monroe, Russ Prophit and wife, Kathy, of Winter Haven, Fla., Matt Prophit and wife, Dalton, of Indian Lakes Estates, Fla.; five grandchildren, Breanna Young and husband, E. Orum Young III, Heather Prophit and Brantley Booth Prophit of West Monroe, Jesse Prophit and wife, Dana, of Sarasota, Fla., Nicholas Prophit of Rayville; and two great-grandchildren, Renee and Elijah Young. She was preceded in death by her husband, William D. "Bill" Bruce, and her parents Hubert and Theodore Gaspard of Tallulah.

Mrs. Wylonda Johnson Cruse Carroll, 83, of Spearsville, passed away Thursday, Jan. 3, 2008, at South Arkansas Medical Center in El Dorado, Ark.
Her funeral was at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 6, at Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe, with Dr. Connie Ward officiating. Interment was in Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation was Saturday.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Travis Carroll, and grandchildren, Tom Cruse and Denny Roark.
Survivors include her children, Tommy Cruse and wife, Sharon, Joyce Hornsby and husband, David, Donna Cagle and husband, Nick; grandchildren, Jay Cruse, Mary Cruse, Tim Cagle, Darryl Cagle, Gary Roark; five great-grandchildren; four sisters, Tina Baird and husband, Harmon, Mary Jean Hatten and husband, Lloyd, Carolyn Nelson and husband, Ray, and Linda Dear and husband, Buck; three brothers, R.Z. Johnson, Jake Johnson and wife, Charlann, and Peyton Johnson and wife, Shelley; numerous nieces and nephews; and special caregiver, Grace Clark.

Margaret A. "Maggie" Craig
Mrs. Margaret A. "Maggie" Craig, 89, of Monroe, passed away Thursday, Jan. 3, 2008, at St. Francis Medical Center.
Her funeral was at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 5, at Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe, with Rev. Paul Sabin officiating. Graveside services were at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 6, at Memorial Park Cemetery in Louisville, Miss. Visitation was Friday evening.
Survivors include her sister, Virginia King of Mt. Home, Ark.; stepson, Omar Craig of Oxford, Miss.; adopted grandsons, Joseph Hooter and wife, Donniel, and their daughter, Magan, all of Monroe; and Phillip Jason Cole and his wife, Chassidy, and their children, Caleb and Micah, all of Alexandria; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.
Honorary pallbearers were Mike Napoli, Fred Fox, Lavell Borden, Dr. Charles Sampagnaro, Greg Elias and Oscar Hooter Jr.

John F. "Billy" Davis Jr.
Mr. John F. "Billy" Davis Jr., 74, of Monroe, passed away Monday, Dec. 31, 2007, at St. Francis North Hospital.
His funeral was at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 3, at Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe, with Rev. John Dallalio officiating. Interment was in Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation was immediately before the service.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Olla Davis; and the love of his life, wife, Eva Jean Davis.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James M. Edmiston; son, Charles Spencer Edmiston; parents, John Spencer and Callie Thomas Brooks; brothers, Printis and Morgan Brooks; sisters, Gertrude and Sarah Brooks, Eula B. Williamson and Atlas B. Turbeville; and a niece, Francis Mitchell Pollard.
Survivors include her son, James M. Edmiston Jr.; daughters-in-law, Virginia Pohlman Edmiston and Martha Chappell Edmiston; grandchildren, Kim Edmiston Williams, Koy Edmiston Mislowsky, Richard S. Edmiston, Robert J. Edmiston; great grandchildren, Caroline and Charles Williams, Ali, Elizabeth and Emily Mislowsky, Dylan and Cody Edmiston; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Ms. Helen Louise Gable, 62. of Monroe, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2008, in West Monroe after a lengthy battle with cancer.
Memorial services were at 4 p.m. Friday, Jan. 4, at Kilpatrick Funeral Home of West Monroe with Rev. Joel Brackett officiating.
Survivors include her mother, Clara Marie Martin; sister, Gail Bass and husband, Jonathan; brother, Fred W. Olivo; aunt, Lola Shipley; niece, Tammy Bragg; nephew, Jeff Perry and wife, Niki; and several cousins.

Gerald Crittenden Golden Sr.
Mr. Gerald Crittenden Golden Sr., 89, of Monroe, passed away Friday, Dec. 28, 2007, at Schumpert Hospital in Shreveport.
His funeral was at 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 3, 2008, at Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe, with Rev. Paul Sabin and Jayne Trammell-Kelly officiating. Interment was in Myrtle Memorial Cemetery in Winnsboro. Visitation was Wednesday evening.
Survivors include sons, Gerald Crittenden Golden Jr. and wife, Jan, and William Rishell Golden and wife, Tina; grandchildren, Christopher Golden and Elizabeth Golden; sisters, Agnes Odom and Gloria Creech; and brother, Dixon "Pete" Golden.
Pallbearers were Kermit Beardin, Jack Rutledge, Paul Mallett, Frank Sherio, Jack Tripp, Lester Davis and Walter Pierron.

Shelli Guillot, 34, died on Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2008, in Shreveport.
Her funeral was at 11:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 4, at Rose-Neath's Bossier Chapel with Rev. Keith Rhodes and Dr. Scott Teutsch of Eastwood Baptist Church officiating. Interment was at Rose-Neath Cemetery. Visitation was Thursday evening.
Survivors include her husband, Eric Guillot, son, Dawson Shannon and daughter, Brittany Guillot, all of Haughton; parents, Freddie and Barbara Shannon of Liberty Hill, Texas; sister, Stephanie Ahr and husband, David, and their son Evan of Leander, Texas; maternal grandfather, Bill Turner of Austin, Texas; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Dayton and Dianne Guillot of West Monroe; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Wendi and Kurt May and their children, Mack and Kamiron of West Monroe; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Henry Bernard Kent Jr.
Mr. Henry Bernard Kent Jr., 82, of West Monroe, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2008, in his residence.
His funeral was at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 4, at Fair Park Baptist Church in West Monroe with Rev. Waymond Warren officiating. Interment was in Hasley Cemetery in West Monroe under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home of West Monroe. Visitation was Thursday evening.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Frances Evelyn Kent.
Survivors include his children, Melanie Carpenter and husband, Ronny, Laurie Counts, and Dave Kent and wife, Terri; sister, Marie Valentine of Ferriday; nine grandchildren, Cherie King and husband, Patrick, Jaime Caples and husband, Daniel, Chrissy Banks and husband, Tommy, Ronny Carpenter Jr. and wife, Stephanie, Jeremy Kent and wife, Rene, Jeffrey Kent and wife, Abigail Kent, Amanda Kent, Samantha Counts and Sarah Counts; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Marie H. Lee, 80, of Little Rock, Ark., and formerly of West Monroe, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2007, at Baptist Hospital in Little Rock.
Services were held Dec. 20, at Balboa Baptist Church in Hot Springs, Ark., with Drs. Kenney Moore and Jack Nicholas officiating. Entombment was in Cedar Vale Mausoleum in Hot Springs.
Survivors include her husband of 37 years, Howard P. Lee Sr.; two step-children, Vicki Howes and husband, Ted, of Mer Rouge; Howard P. Lee Jr., and wife, Kaye, of Pearl, Miss., one brother, Sammy Earl Haywood; three grandsons; three great-grandsons; and a host of dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her stepfather, Dewey Thrasher, and one brother, Aubrey Haywood.
Pallbearers were Jim Caldwell, Miles Riley, her grandsons and son-in-law.

Courtney Dale "C.D." McKaskle
Mr. Courtney Dale "C.D." McKaskle, 78, of West Monroe, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2008, at Glenwood Regional Medical Center in West Monroe.
His funeral was at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 4, at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church in West Monroe with Revs. Woody Rimes and Paul Lofton officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home of West Monroe. Visitation was Thursday evening at the funeral home.

Mr. John Malcolm Turner, 74, of West Monroe, passed away Thursday, Jan. 3, 2008, at Landmark Nursing Home in West Monroe.
Graveside services were at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 6, at Beulah Methodist Church Cemetery in Calhoun with Rev. Marlin Betts officiating. Arrangements were by Mulhearn Funeral Home of West Monroe. Visitation was Saturday evening.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Theodore Marvin Turner and Adeline Hogan Turner and his infant daughter.
