Story Archives: Lady Rebels aim for district title

Lady Rebels aim for district title
by Joe Durham, Jr. - posted E-mail Story E-mail Story | Print Story Print Story
The West Monroe Lady Rebels are sitting just where they need to be at this stretch according to first year head coach Trey Long.

The Lady Rebels are currently 3-0 in District 2-5A play and they have won two of the last three games in a shootout situation.

"It's really thrilling," Long said. "Its a team who wants to win and give what they've got. Our district is extremely evenly matched right now. Ouachita is 0-3 but they could just as easily be 3-0."

The Lady Rebels continued to impress as they defeated Ouachita Monday night in another overtime shootout for a 1-0 victory.

Kristie Anyan scored two goals each against Ruston and Natchitoches Central. Top defender in the Ruston game was Abbey Evans and top defender in the Central game was Megan Moore.

The Lady Rebels (17-4-2, 2-0) will host Natchitoches Central today (Thursday).

Evans is one of six Lady Rebels seniors. Erica Strider, Poindexter, Alison Cooke and

Eron Colvin are the others who are among the team leaders.

With two weeks left in the season, the Lady Rebels will also be closing out the district seaon Jan. 24 at Ruston.
