Lady Eagles win tourney Mallory Fields scored 17 points to help lead the Ouachita Christian School Lady Eagles to a 61-47 victory over Caldwell Parish Saturday night to win the OCS New Year's Classic.
Tiesha Jackson and Juliene Joyner scored 10 points each to help out.
Brooke Humphries was the leading rebounder with seven boards.
Caldwell opened the game with an early lead, taking a 19-17 lead at the end of the first quarter.
OCS trailed by as many as 10 points in the first quarter.
The Lady Eagles caught fire in the second quarter, though, taking a 38-23 advantage at the half. OCS led 53-39 at the end of the third quarter.
The Lady Eagles (19-3) defeated St. Mary's in the semifinal round 60-29, and Calvary Baptist 56-20.
The Lady Eagles improved their record to 19-3.
Calvary 68, OCS 58
Khiry Cooper scored 18 points to help lead Calvary Baptist to a 68-58 victory over OCS last Saturday night in the finals of the OCS New Year's Classic.
Three players scored in double figures. Chimere Achilihu had a double/double as he pumped in 19 points and pulled down 11 boards in the game.
Chris Dupont added 15 points and Colby Mike chipped in 10 to the total for OCS who finished second in the tournament.
To get to the title game, the Eagles had to win against St. Mary's by a 62-47 margin in the semifinal round and Claiborne Christian by an 82-50 margin.
The Eagles and Lady Eagles will begin District 2-1A play this Friday night when they host Arcadia. |
