Lucille T. Adkinson
Mrs. Lucille Tidwell Adkinson, 81, of Sterlington, passed away peacefully Saturday, Dec. 29, 2007, at her daughter's residence and surrounded by her family.
Her funeral was at 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 31, at Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe, with Rev. Donnie Wilkinson officiating. Burial was in Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery in Monroe. Visitation was Monday before the service.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Capt. Dale W. Adkinson, U.S. Army Ret.
Survivors include her daughter, Patricia Emanuele and husband, Michael, of Prattville, Ala.; sons, Dale W. Adkinson Jr. and wife, Katie, of Columbia, Mo., and Vernon V. Adkinson and wife, Ann, of Sterlington; brother, Vincy Tidwell and wife, Clara, of Monroe; grandchildren, Mark Adkinson, August Adkinson, Daniel Adkinson, Joshua Adkinson, Alexa Emanuele and Brittney Emanuele.
Pallbearers were Cliff Tidwell, Rod Tidwell, Bill York, Jim York, Adam York and Jason York.

J.O. "Joe" Antley
Mr. J.O. "Joe" Antley, 79, of West Monroe, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2007, in Monroe.
His funeral was at 10 a.m Friday, Dec. 21, at First Assembly of God Church with Pastors Shane Warren, L.C. Ashbrook and Otis Moore officiating. Interment was in Aulds Chapel Cemetery near Downsville under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of West Monroe. Visitation was Thursday evening.
He was preceded in death by parents, Hoody and Ella Mae Antley, sisters, Olene Conroy, Bea Carter, brother, Mitchell Antley.
Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Pauline Antley; two sons, Butch Elmore and wife, Donna, Phillip Elmore and wife, Cathy; step-son, Kevin Barnes and wife, Darlene; daughter, Shea Lockridge; grandchildren, Brad Elmore, Devin Elmore, Holten Elmore, Ben Elmore, Daniel Elmore, Dustin Barnes, Daniel Barnes, Derek Barnes, Meredith Barnes, Cody Lockridge; and great-grandchild, Cailyn Elmore.
Pallbearers were John Ashbrook, Glen Frost, Dustin Barnes, Daniel Barnes, Derek Barnes, Cody Lockridge, Ben Elmore and Daniel Elmore. Honorary pallbearers were Toy Humphreys, Gary Reno and Benny Stansbury.

Betty Avant
Betty Avant, 78, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2007, in West Monroe.
Her funeral was at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 29, at Point Assembly of God Church with Rev. Louis Bartet officiating, with assistance by Janet Durden. Interment was in Aulds Chapel Cemetery. Visitation was Friday evening at the funeral home at before the service Saturday at the church.
She was preceded in death by her parents Elby L. and Daisy Owen; and brothers Odell, Ernest, Fred, and Bill Owen.
Survivors include her husband Roy Avant; brother, Leon Owen and wife, Maxine; sister, Wanda Adams and husband, Glen; children, Jan Pierce and husband, Jay, Benjamin Avant and Crystal Lowry; and grandchildren, Taylor Lowry and Sam Lowry.
Honorary pallbearers were Glen Adams, Rev. Lowell Ashbrook, Jim Creel and Bob Giles.

Billy Daniel
Dr. Billy Daniel of Calhoun died Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2007, at Tulane Medical Center following a brief illness.
His funeral was at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 22, at Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe, with Pastors Brian Canuteson and Cal Adams officiating. Interment was in Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation was Friday evening.
He is preceded in death by parents, James Ivan, Addie High Daniel, and mother-in-law Eloise Harrison Vigg.
Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Sandra Vigg Daniel; son Patrick Daniel and wife, Patti; daughter Sherri McFadden and husband, Michael; grandchildren, Blake and Spencer Daniel, Olivia and Sydney McFadden; sister, Fran Daniel Kemper and husband, Royal; brother Robert Glenn Daniel and wife, Ina; sister-in-law, Dottie Moses and husband John Gerald; and numerous nephews and nieces.
Pallbearers were John Smith, Pat Kelly, Bill Duncan, Mike Martin, Kim Dameron and Steve Sills. Honorary pallbearers were Pine Hills Men's Golf Association, and Pine Hills Senior Men's Golf Association.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or the American Cancer Society.

Madge Walker Doss
Mrs. Madge Walker Doss, 91, of Monroe, died Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2007, in Monroe.
Her funeral was at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 22, 2007, at Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Monroe with Revs. Joe Solomon and Weldon Bares officiating. Interment was in Wesley Chapel Cemetery in Ruston. Visitation was held immediately before the service.
Survivors include nieces, Rowena Weaver of Jonesboro, Betty Koury and husband, Jake, of Lafayette; nephew, Joe Barrett of Sedona, Ariz., special friend, Anita Abbott; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Linwood Doss; father, Felix Walker; and mother, Myrtle Allen Doss.
Pallbearers were George Hall, J.C. Taylor, W.P. Stewart, Charles Cox, Nolan Hayden, Dr. William Smith.
Emma Allee Covington Hale
Mrs. Emma Allee Covington Hale, 89, of West Monroe, passed away Thursday, Dec. 27, 2007, at Glenwood Regional Medical Center.
Her funeral was at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 30, at Harvest Assembly of God Church with Revs. Jo Anne Tarver, Randy Bardwell and Shirley Davidson officiating. Interment was in Hasley Cemetery under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home of West Monroe. Visitation was Saturday evening.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy C. Hale; son-in-law, Houston Posey; three brothers; and three sisters.
Survivors include her daughter, Joyce Posey; grandchildren, Hugh Posey Sr. and wife, Myrna, Jo Anne Posey Tarver and husband, Johnny, Cindy Posey Sharplin and husband, Doug, and Carrie Posey; great-grandchildren, Miranda Posey, Alan Posey, Matthew Posey, Emily Sharplin and Noah Sharplin; sister-in-law, Edith Covington; nephews, Gary and William Covington Jr., Billy Ray Rushton, Howard Covington and Melvin Traina.

Mrs. Jimmie Ruth Jones, 69, passed away Friday, Dec. 21, 2007, in Monroe.

Willie D. "Pete" Lenard
Mr. Willie D. "Pete" Lenard, 69, of West Monroe, lost his brave battle with cancer on Sunday, Dec. 30, 2007, at home with his loving family by his side.
His funeral was at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2008, at Lapine Assembly of God Church with Pastors Mildred Lenard and Prentice Robert officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery. Visitation was Tuesday evening.
He was preceded in death by his father, John Ransom Lenard; mother, Verdie B. Wink Lenard; and brother, Dan Lenard.
Survivors include his devoted wife of 44 years, Josephine Lenard; sons, Tavis Wesley Bryant, Benard "Opie" Lenard and wife, Suzie Lenard, Kenneth Earl Lenard, Charles Alan Lenard and special friend, Delores McCaleb, one considered as a son, Lebo Alderman; daughter, Cynthia Johnson; five grandsons, Jason Sell, Scott Lenard, Michael Lenard, Heath Bryant and Chase Lenard; two granddaughters, Amy Vaughn and Cassidy Lenard; sisters, Lou Lenard, Mary Lenard and Linda Williamson and husband, David; brothers, Johnny Lenard and wife, Phyllis, Ken R. William D. Sawyer Sr.
Mr. William D. Sawyer, Sr., 84, of West Monroe, passed away Friday, Dec. 28, 2007, at Glenwood Regional Medical Center.

Robert Keith Smith
Mr. Robert Keith Smith, 52, of West Monroe, passed away at home surrounded by those he loved on Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2007.
His funeral was at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 29, at Mulhearn Funeral Home of West Monroe with Bro. Daniel Hall, Bro. J.W. Bunn and Ken Bunn officiating. Interment was in Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Calhoun. Visitation was Friday evening.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his brother, Kenneth Smith.
Survivors include his beloved wife, Mickie Bunn-Smith; three sons, KaCee Bunn-Smith and fiancé, Joane Turpin, Cody Smith and Keiton Smith; one daughter, Stacy Nicole Murphy; mother, Dot Smith; granddaughter, Bella; one brother, James Kevin Smith and wife, Ginger; maternal grandmother, Ezraline Whittington; paternal grandmother, Lucille Smith; special cousin, Martha Robinson; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Janis Strauss
Mrs. Janis Strauss of Monroe passed away Tuesday, Dec. 25, 2007, at St. Francis North Hospital.

Roberta Ann Telano of Monroe passed away at her home after a lengthy illness.

Survivors include her husband of 51 years, Jobie Telano; sons, Jackie Telano and wife, Lynn, of Ackerman, Miss., Barry Telano and wife, Lynda, Joey Telano and wife, Kathy; daughter, Rebecca Telano Cobb and husband, Richard, of West Monroe; grandchildren, Jason Telano and wife, Stacy, Brent Telano and wife, Hanna, Trey, Cory, Tiffany and Tracy Telano and Lindsey Brodd; two great-grandchildren, Austin and Alex Telano; three brothers; two sisters; several nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.

Mrs. Lela Evis Loflin West, 95 of Monroe, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 25, 2007.

Mrs. West was preceded in death by her husband of over 60 years, Robert F. West; sons, Robert "Rink" and William West; daughter, Margaret, and son-in-law, Creighton Laughman; grandsons, Gary and William West; and her great-grandson, Christopher West.
Survivors include her two sons, Bobby Ray West and wife, Shirlane, of Monroe, and James West of Decatur, Ga.; daughters-in-law, Gwen West of Columbia, Ill., and Jean David and husband, Sam, of West Monroe; grandchildren, Belinda, Len, Ramona, Randy, Bart, Julie, Lisa, Gloria, Bridgett and Donnie; and two sisters, Florence Smith of Monroe, and Lovie Boutwell of Kingwood, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Cyril T. Yancey; parents, Harriet Harrell Best and John Thomas Best; two brothers, Joseph Thomas Best and William Vann Best; and sister, Mary Best Hammond.
Survivors include her daughter, Constance Yancey Haddox and husband, James Haddox, along with numerous nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her wonderful friend and caregiver, Ida Evans, along with all her many friends.
Pallbearers were Langston Yancey, Read Yancey, Jeffrey Best, Paul Best, Tommy Best, and Hollis Venable. Honorary pallbearers were Dr. Burchall Liles, Dr. Robert Wood, Dr. Doyle Hamilton, Ron Robertson, Steve Swander, Dallas Webb, Steve Cox and in his memory, Bill Dent.
