|Police Jury gets update on canal projects|
The status of several ongoing drainage projects like the Vernon Street Canal drew much of the Ouachita Parish Police Jury's attention Monday night.
During the Public Works Committee meeting, Police Jury consulting engineer Kevin Crosby gave an update on the development of H-1, T-1A and J-1D canals. He also talked about the completion of the Martin Luther King Drive drainage project.
Crosby said pre-construction on the H-1 canal began Jan. 29 with construction set to begin on March 4. Came Construction is handling the work on H-1 canal.
H-1 canal runs through northeastern Ouachita Parish, draining areas around Love Estates, Presidential Estates and Stubbs Vinson Road.
The Police Jury agreed to an $183,000 contract with Came Construction for the H-1 canal job on Jan. 10.
