Local athletes pledge to colleges

A host of local prep athletes officially pledged their college allegiance this week, as over a dozen area football players signed National Letter's of Intent on Wednesday, the beginning of the national signing period.

Five Ouachita football players signed NLI, including speedster Taijuan Thomas who gave Stanford his verbal pledge in November. Thomas (5-9, 180) projects as a versatile slot threat in the Cardinal offense. Thomas also had offers from Arkansas State, Dartmouth, Houston, Illinois, Southern Miss, Tulane and ULM.
