Board re-elects Muhammed, Traweek

The Monroe City School Board conducted first-of-the-year housework during the board's regular meeting Tuesday, re-electing Verbon Muhammed as president and Mickey Traweek as vice president for 2013.

Muhammed was re-elected on a vote of 3-2 with board members Vickie Krutzer and Glynn Ludley voting in opposition. Muhammed also will chair the School Board Transportation Committee.

"We have traveled some rough roads and we have more ahead of us," Muhammed said. "I'm thankful that the board's entrusting me again but I'm very concerned about decorum. As we go into 2013, we need to bring professionalism back to this board."
