Parish drainage canal projects gain steam
A long-planned series of improvements to several drainage canals throughout Ouachita Parish took a step forward Monday night when the Ouachita Parish Police Jury accepted a bid to begin construction.
The work approved Monday during the first regular Police Jury meeting of 2013 will be performed on the H-1 Canal, which runs through northeastern Ouachita Parish and drains areas around Love Estates, Presidential Estates and Stubbs Vinson Road.
The Police Jury awarded West Monroe-based Camo Construction a $183,000 contract to complete the job.
