Human arrogance

You have probably heard the expression: "In the beginning God created man…and ever since, man…and ever since, man has been creating God."

Well, this has been going on about as long as man has existed. It takes many forms, resulting in the attitude so often seen and heard — "God wants me to be happy"… I can marry and divorce as often as takes to make me happy"… "Our church can worship however we like, so long as it makes us feel good" ... "our church can be organized however we want, and write our own creed books…so long as it makes us happy."

One of the more obvious examples of this arrogance is in both men and women assuming authoritative positions and titles. We see, and hear, "Reverend" … "Right Reverend" ... "Holy Reverend" ... "Most Holy Reverend" ... Father" ... Holy Father" …etc., etc.
