Gosh, the 2013 year is beginning with a big bang! As Yvonne Anderson once shared, "Let's be the best we can be at every stage of our lives."

We cannot just sit idly by and wait for something good to happen. Deborah Cofer still sends us motivational messages that I treasure but want to share this "new beginning" with you from Deborah...  Knowledge never ends!

From our friend, Jerry Womack from the great scientist, Albert Einstein ... "I fear the day the technology will surpass our human interaction. The world will have a generation of idiots."

Albert Schweitzer maintained that "the great secret of success is to go through life as a man who never gets used up."  When we make it a goal to continually learn and enlarge ourselves, we become the kind of person who can never be "used up." We're always recharging our batteries and finding better ways to get things done. To determine whether we are still growing, we ask ourselves what we're still looking forward to doing in life? If we can't think of anything or we're looking back instead of ahead, our growth may be at a standstill.

Martha Jane Anderson retired from University of Louisiana-Monroe after 35 years of service as Assistant Dean of Students and SGA Advisor. She is married to Patrick H. Anderson Sr., has two children, and four grandchildren.
