WM police chief offered Bismarck job

West Monroe Police Chief Christopher Elg has been offered the police chief post at the Bismarck (North Dakota) Police Department.

The Bismarck Board of Commissioners voted unanimously earlier this week to offer Elg the job, contingent upon successful contract negotiations and a background check.

"I received the offer from Bismarck but we haven't reached a decision yet," Elg said Wednesday afternoon. "We're still discussing the opportunity and trying to decide if it's the right fit for our family.

Elg has until midnight Thursday to accept or decline Bismarck's offer. He said he and his family might take until Thursday night to decide.
