West Monroe audit reveals budget surplus
The city of West Monroe posted a surplus at the end of the 2011-2012 fiscal year, according to auditors tasked with compiling an annual report on the city's financial health.
West Monroe closed the books on the 2011-2012 fiscal year with some $423,300 left over, according to the audit.
The West Monroe Board of Aldermen received the audit Tuesday night during its regular meeting.
"That $423,300 is a pretty good number to see, especially considering that the current economy isn't worth a hoot," said Mayor Dave Norris.
