The head law enforcement officer at the University of Louisiana-Monroe is on leave and he's set to retire Jan. 11, after more than 30 years on the job, ULM officials announced Wednesday.

ULM Police Chief Larry Ellerman and ULM Police Capt. Dan Chason were both on leave, according to a prepared statement.

Ellerman will remain on leave until his official retirement Jan. 11. Chason's future at ULM is unclear.

"Since this is a personnel matter, no further information will be disclosed at this time," the statement said.

No further details into the matter were available at press time.
