Karr dethrones Neville, win streak snapped Neville's 27-game winning streak came to end last Friday, as the top-seeded Tigers finally met their match in a hungry Edna Karr bunch that still had a bad taste in its mouth from the loss in the finals a year earlier by the hands of the Tigers.
Karr's Jeremy Jamison bolted up the sideline 54 yards for the eventual winning touchdown late in the fourth quarter as the Cougars defeated Neville, 29-22, in the LHSAA Class 4A State Championship. The win gives Karr (14-0) its second championship in school history, its only other title coming in 1993.
The win also comes as sweet revenge for the Cougars who lost the previous two state title games.
"To finally win the state championship, well, it was just wonderful," Karr coach Jabbar Juluke said after the physical title game.
