Karr dethrones Neville, takes the 4A state title Neville's 27-game winning streak came to end Friday, as the top-seeded Tigers finally met their match in a hungry Edna Karr bunch that still had a bad taste in its mouth from the loss in the finals a year earlier by hands on the Tigers from Monroe.
Karr's Jeremy Jamison bolted up the sideline 54 yards for the eventual winning touchdown late in the fourth quarter as the Cougars defeated Neville, 29-22, in the LHSAA Class 4A State Championship. The win gives Karr (13-0) its second championship in school history.
Brian Barefoot's 45-yard field put Neville up 22-21 with less than 6 minutes to go before Jamison's touchdown, his second of the game.
Neville (13-1) outgained Karr, 361-292, in total yardage.
Neville's John Diarse finished with 148 yards and a touchdown on 25 carries against the most overwhelming defense the Tigers faced all season. Diarse threw for 151 yards on a score. |
