Infrastructure projects drive parish deficit The Ouachita Parish Police Jury's proposed budget for the 2013 fiscal year could generate a $4.4-million deficit, but the parish treasurer says the deficit was planned.
The proposed 2013 budget totals some $92 million and includes some $23 million in carryover projects from 2012, according to Police Jury Treasurer Brad Cammack.
Cammack said the projected deficit was the result of several large projects that have carried over for several years and was not due to declines in revenue or increased spending. Cammack also said it was possible the Police Jury could delay some of the large infrastructure projects, which would further reduce the deficit in 2013.
The Police Jury is expected to introduce the proposed budget for the 2013 fiscal year during its regular meeting Monday night. .....For the full story, subscribe to the The Ouachita Citizen's NEW E-Edition! |
