The runoff election for Monroe City Council District 3 is not likely to set any voting turnout records, according to early voting totals from the Ouachita Parish Registrar of Voters.

As of press time this week, roughly 150 people had cast early votes in the Dec. 8 runoff. Only the City Council District 3 race in Monroe is on the ballot.

Registrar of Voters Christa Medaries said she was unsurprised by the early vote. In November, when more than 60 percent of eligible voters cast ballots in Ouachita Parish.

"There's only one thing on the ballot," Medaries said of the Dec. 8 election.
Medaries says voter turnout would be "really low" in City Council race.
