Morrison resigns, investigation continues

Embattled Monroe City Engineer Sinyale Morrison resigned Tuesday, citing personal reasons, according to Monroe Mayor Jamie Mayo.

"She tended her letter of resignation and I accepted it," Mayo said. "She expressed a desire to pursue other opportunities."

Morrison worked in varying capacities in city government for 13 years, but it was Morrison's time as city engineer that drew the attention of officials, including the Legislative Auditor, State Police and the 4th Judicial District Attorney's Office.

Last year, Legislative Auditor Daniel Purpera issued a number of audit findings that indicated Morrison could have broken state laws in the hiring of former city employee Ricardo Nance.
