City superintendent search comes up dry

The search for a new superintendent of Monroe City Schools is moving forward, according to the chairman of the committee tasked with finding a new leader for the school system.

In July, the Monroe City School Board established a search committee to find a replacement for former school Superintendent Kathleen Harris. School Board member Rodney McFarland was tapped to lead that committee.

The committee set guidelines and established timetables, but so far, McFarland said that's all that's happened.

"I know we don't have any applicants," McFarland said. "Nobody has applied for the position."
