Eight of nine proposed amendments approved statewide

Voters approved eight of nine proposed constitutional amendments Tuesday and overwhelmingly opted to limit service on local school boards to three consecutive terms.

Tuesday's election was crowded with candidates and amendments while a presidential election and numerous closely contested races for Louisiana's six seats in the U.S. House of Representatives up for consideration.

In Ouachita Parish, 81 percent of voters approved a three-term limit on parish School Board members. The City of Monroe also adopted term limits for city School Board members by an only slightly smaller margin of just under 80 percent.
