Parish school system earns 'B' for performance

Officials at Ouachita Parish Schools are celebrating new school performance scores from the Louisiana Department of Education.

Superintendent Bob Webber said eight schools got "A" ratings for the 2011-2012 academic year.

"Three of our high schools moved into A schools — West Monroe High, West Ouachita High and Sterlington High," Webber said. "And Ouachita just barely missed it, eight-tenths of a point. We're very proud of Richwood. They went from a D to a C. Saw tremendous growth there."

Webber added that Claiborne and George Welch elementary schools maintained their A grades. Joining those two schools on the A list were Drew, Sterlington and West Ridge elementary schools.
