Gilley headlines benefit Louisiana native and award-winning country music entertainer Mickey Gilley will headline a benefit concert this weekend for PAWS of Northeast Louisiana's Spay and Neuter Services.
The Ferriday native is donating his talents for the 7:30 p.m. event Saturday, Oct. 27, at the Monroe Civic Center Arena, The show is called "My Life in Music."
Gilley said he's delighted to perform for the benefit, both because he's an animal-lover himself and because his cousin's wife, State Police Lt. Julie Lewis and active PAWS member, asked him to do so.
"When Julie, who's married to one of my dearest cousins (State Police Lt.) Tommy Lewis, asked me if I'd be willing to come in and do the show for the expenses, I said, 'If you'll pay the band, I'll be there,'" Gilley said. "So they've agreed to pay the band, and I'm bringing the whole nine yards. I'm not charging them a penny, and I'm looking forward to doing the show." .....For the full story, subscribe to the The Ouachita Citizen's NEW E-Edition! |
