OPPJ OKs Green Oaks budget The Ouachita Parish Police Jury approved a budget for Green Oaks Juvenile Detention Center, but without an increase in revenues.
Police jurors acted on the budget measure during their regular meeting Monday. Earlier this month, Green Oaks officials presented a budget for the Police Jury's consideration that included a hike in the property tax rate collected for the detention center.
At the time, Police Jury Finance Committee Chairman Walt Caldwell sent Green Oaks back to the drawing board and asked to see a budget that maintained the current 2.65-mills property tax assessment. But Caldwell noted that any budget passed to fund Green Oaks would include a deficit.
