Drainage work under review in West Monroe

The fate of proposed drainage improvements in one busy residential area in West Monroe is in the hands of the state Department of Transportation and Development.

The city of West Monroe submitted plans to improve drainage along Wellerman Road and in the White Columns subdivision for review by DOTD officials, according to city engineer Robbie George.

Since the state is providing funding for the proposed work, DOTD must sign off on it before it can begin.

George said the project will help alleviate flooding along Wellerman Road as well as around houses on the north side of White Columns subdivision.
