Mayo: City water billing issues 'unfortunate'

Customers of the Monroe public water system should begin receiving just one bill a month in October, according to city officials who say the system has "caught up" on several months of missed bills.

Director of Administration David Barnes said the city water and sewer system billing problems began when a number of the new automated meters were installed.

"Some of the new meters caused some billing errors," Barnes said.
