Pumpkin patches open next week West Monroe First United Methodist Church of West Monroe will host a ribbon cutting on Monday, Oct. 1 to officially open its annual Pumpkin Patch. The ribbon cutting will be held on Monday, Oct. 1 on the grounds of First United Methodist Church, located at 1411 Glenwood Drive in West Monroe. The public is invited to attend the ribbon cutting. The ribbon cutting ceremony will be used to officially open the church's pumpkin patch, which will open from October 1-31. First United Methodist Church annually hosts the pumpkin patch with pumpkins from the Navajo Nation in New Mexico. Sales from pumpkins are used to support people of the Navajo Nation and fund mission projects in the local area.
Church leaders have announced that funds generated from this year's pumpkin patch sales will be used to help fund the Backpack Food Program at Lenwil Elementary. The Backpack Program is coordinated by the Food Bank of Northeast Louisiana.
Students in need are provided backpacks of food every Friday during the school year to supplement their meals over the weekend. .....For the full story, subscribe to the The Ouachita Citizen's NEW E-Edition! |
