Police jurors point finger at Jindal
With work continuing to craft an operating budget for the Ouachita Parish Police Jury's 2013 fiscal year, some local groups that have lost funding from the state are hopeful the Police Jury will help restore the cuts.
During a finance committee meeting Monday night, representatives from the Ouachita Parish Health Unit petitioned police jurors to consider supplementing the budget of the health unit by roughly $16,000 to offset what regional health director Steve McAdams called budget cuts at the state level.
The additional money would be used to supplement salaries and operations at the parish health unit, McAdams said.
The health unit's request raised the ire of several police jurors who said they had grown weary of state cuts to vital agencies.
