Group holds suicide awareness walk

Heartbeat Monroe, a suicide support, education and awareness group will hold its 6th annual walk Sunday, October 14 in Kiroli Park, West Monroe. Registration begins at 1:00 followed by the walk and a balloon release. There is no registration fee, but the non-profit operates on donations derived from the walk. Dogs on leashes are welcome.

The purpose of Heartbeat Monroe is to help survivors absorb the impact of a self-inflicted death and support each other toward a healthy resolution of grief. Meetings are held on the second Thursday each month at St. Thomas Episcopal Church, 3606 Bon Aire Drive, Monroe, LA from 6:30-8 p.m.

In addition to meetings, the group provides booklets and direct assistance to survivors.
