Aldermen target cyberbullying Acting to tamp down on bullying that's carried out electronically, the West Monroe Board of Aldermen signed off on an ordinance Tuesday night that criminalizes cyberbullying.
Aldermen unanimously approved the measure at their regular meeting.
The ordinance levies a fine and calls for jail time for any individual at least 17 years of age who is found guilty of the offense. The ordinance specifically singles out recipients of cyberbullying who are under the age of 18.
