The Fourth Judicial District Court opens this Friday, Sept. 7, with the celebration of the 19th Annual Red Mass at St. Matthew Catholic Church in downtown Monroe.
The Red Mass asks for the blessings of the Holy Spirit on the administration of justice. The public is invited to attend.

Red Mass brings together judges, lawyers, elected officials, and religious leaders of various denominations for the service.

The new pastor of St. Matthew's, the Rev. Richard D. Norsworthy, will serve as the preacher and homilist. The principal celebrant of the Mass will be the Vicar-General of the Diocese of Shreveport, the Very Reverend Rothell Price, J.C.L.
Monroe is a part of the Diocese of Shreveport.
